Drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, money, social media, food, pornography, perfection - a non-exhaustive list of addictions. What happens when you are married to someone struggling with multiple addictions but feel led to stay with them? What do you do when the heat is turned up on your marriage and all hope seems lost? This week, we walked through this experience with my good friend Norma Urrabazo. When her marriage was on the brink of divorce due to harsh circumstances perpetuated by addiction, something shifted in her perspective that brought restoration to her marriage, family, and legacy.   Join the journey to a restored marriage, restored relationship, and restored freedom!   Verse referenced - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. “Well if he won’t do the dishes, then I won’t,” “If she won’t talk to me then I won’t talk to her.” These are examples of what might be said in a reciprocal love where you only give as much as the other in the relationship. Don’t be discouraged! This is a very common occurrence and can be remedied if we learn to switch from reciprocal to covenantal love in relationships. Dr. Ripley, the Hughes chair of Christian integration and co-director of the Charis Institute at Regent University, takes us through the process of what a “hope focused” relationship looks like.   Let’s learn to love above and beyond in service of one another, get vulnerable, and defend each others’ vulnerabilities!     ☞ FOLLOW DR. It’s safe to say that the majority of us have experienced various symptoms on a regular basis whether it be brain fog, fatigue, headaches, hormonal imbalances, inflammation, anxiety, the list goes on. But what if we could eliminate those symptoms through our food? Maybe it seems too good to be true - we can assure you it’s not! This week, we are in the second installment of restoring joy in the kitchen with my amazing and brilliant friend Rebecca “Bec” Megan. Bec breaks down what happens in our body when we begin to nourish it with specific foods, spices, and recipes. Nutrition is a journey, so don’t expect a quick fix. Recognize the value in nourishing our bodies well and own the daily steps to get there! As we’ve shared before, Bec is a health educator, cook, and is passionate about educating people. Her hope is to transform food culture in homes around the globe through education about the body and how food affects it. Bec wants people to love their kitchen. One of her favorite sayings is, “the body is designed for life and not disease.” Join us on the journey to health and wholeness and let’s get back in the kitchen!   ☞ FOLLOW REBECCA MEGAN ☜ Website (enroll in her gut course here!) Have you already jumped full force into that new routine with your New Year resolutions? If so, we want to pose a different strategy than you might be used to when it comes to going after your resolutions. A cycle often occurs where we overindulge during the holidays and then hyper restrict and control once the new year rolls around. While this may pay off on some scale, the sustainability of it is abysmal. We challenge you to think deeper into understanding the subconscious lies you believe are true, honoring every part of you, and encountering a love like no other. The point of a resolution isn’t to punish your body, so why not embrace a new strategy to really enjoy doing good things and setting goals?! Let’s start 2022 on a good note - loving every part of us, and celebrating with good nourishment, movement, and habits. ☞ FOLLOW DR. Merry-happy-post-Christmas-day! We are STILL celebrating Christmas even after the 25th because, let’s be real, Jesus’ birthday is worth celebrating all month long. You may be feeling like you had an INCREDIBLE Christmas and are completely satisfied with the experience! However, a good portion of us may feel a little disappointed, disillusioned, and sad about our unmet expectations. Know this: you are not alone.  Human nature shows us that we do not like to live in the present moment and instead get fixated on “what could be.” We trade contentment for a fantasy, and when the moment comes for fulfillment, reality seems to always fall short of what we were dreaming of. But there is hope! Instead of focusing on our own expectations, why not shift our focus to how we can serve others? Let’s be the ones to truly see people and as a result, we find satisfaction in the present moment! We love you guys and hope you continue to have a very happy and merry Christmas (month)!   ☞ FOLLOW DR.
